Editorial Independence

The Nai Khabar newsroom operates with full editorial independence. No advertiser, sponsor, political party, government entity, or business partner has any influence over our news content. Editorial decisions are made solely on the basis of newsworthiness, public interest, and factual accuracy.

Sourcing Standards

Every news story published on Nai Khabar adheres to these sourcing requirements:

  • Primary sources are preferred: We rely on official statements, press releases from verified institutions, court documents, and firsthand reporting wherever possible.
  • Two-source rule for breaking news: Breaking news stories require confirmation from at least two independent, credible sources before publication.
  • Named sources over anonymous: We use named sources whenever possible. Anonymous sources are used only when necessary to protect whistleblowers or when the information is of significant public interest and cannot be obtained otherwise.
  • Clear attribution: Every factual claim, quote, and statistic is attributed to its source in the body of the article.

Fact-Checking Process

Before an article is published on Nai Khabar:

  1. The reporter verifies all facts against primary sources.
  2. An editor reviews the article for accuracy, clarity, balance, and legal risk.
  3. Quotations are checked against original recordings or documents.
  4. Statistics are cross-referenced with official government data, World Bank, IMF, SBP, or other authoritative datasets.
  5. Images are verified for authenticity and proper licensing.

Separation of News and Opinion

News reporting presents verified facts without editorial commentary. Opinion pieces, analyses, and editorials are clearly labeled at the top of the article. Reporters who cover a beat do not write opinion pieces on the subjects they report on.

Conflicts of Interest

Nai Khabar journalists are required to disclose any personal, financial, or family relationships that could be perceived as a conflict of interest. Reporters with a conflict are reassigned. We do not accept gifts, paid travel, or favors from sources, government agencies, or companies we cover.

Use of AI

Nai Khabar may use AI-assisted tools for tasks like grammar checking, headline optimization, image enhancement, and research support. However, every article is written, edited, and fact-checked by human journalists. AI is never used to fabricate quotes, sources, or facts. We do not publish fully AI-generated news articles.

Plagiarism

Plagiarism is strictly prohibited. All content published on Nai Khabar is original reporting, original analysis, or properly attributed. When we report on a story broken by another outlet, we credit them in the article and link to the original source.

User-Generated Content

Comments, letters to the editor, and reader-submitted content are moderated for relevance, legality, and civility. We reserve the right to remove content that is defamatory, hateful, or violates Pakistani law.

Unpublishing Policy

Nai Khabar does not unpublish articles at the request of individuals unhappy with factual, accurate coverage. We will, however, correct factual errors, update stories with new information, and in rare cases (legal orders, personal safety concerns) take down content. See our Corrections Policy.
