Corrections Policy
Our Commitment to Accuracy
Nai Khabar is committed to accuracy in every article we publish. Despite rigorous editorial standards, errors sometimes occur. When they do, we correct them promptly, transparently, and without burying the correction.
Types of Corrections
We distinguish between four types of editorial updates:
1. Corrections
A correction is issued when an article contains a factual error — a misspelled name, wrong date, incorrect statistic, or misattributed quote. The corrected information is added to the article, and a note is appended at the bottom explaining what was changed and when.
2. Clarifications
A clarification is issued when an article, while not factually incorrect, could be misinterpreted. We rewrite the ambiguous passage and add a note explaining the clarification.
3. Updates
When a developing story progresses after initial publication, we update the article with new information. The original reporting remains visible; added material is clearly marked as an update with a timestamp.
4. Retractions
In rare cases where an entire article is based on incorrect premises or falsified information, we issue a full retraction. The article is replaced with a retraction notice explaining what was wrong and why. Retractions are permanent and visible.
How to Request a Correction
If you believe we have published incorrect information:
- Email: [email protected]
- Include: the article URL, the specific claim you believe is incorrect, and supporting evidence or sources.
- Response time: We respond to every correction request within 24 hours.
Our Correction Process
- The correction request is received and logged by an editor.
- The editor reviews the claim against original sources and your supporting evidence.
- If a correction is warranted, we update the article and append a correction note at the bottom with the date of correction.
- For significant corrections to major stories, we publish a standalone correction notice on our homepage.
- We respond to the person who requested the correction.
Transparency
Every correction includes:
- The date and time of the correction
- A clear description of what was wrong
- A clear description of what is now correct
We do not delete errors silently. Corrections are part of the permanent record of the article.
Social Media Corrections
When we publish incorrect information on social media (X/Twitter, Facebook, Instagram), we post a correction on the same platform and delete the incorrect post only after the correction has been publicly issued.
Legal Requests
In rare cases, legal orders from Pakistani courts may require us to take down or modify content. We comply with lawful orders while disclosing that the content was removed due to a legal request, wherever permitted by law.
