MIRPUR: Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq has renewed his pledge to safeguard the legitimate rights of the people, saying that he would continue to work tirelessly to ensure their due rights.

In a meeting with a delegation of the District Bar Association in Mirpur on Sunday, the PM said that the welfare of the people was the top priority of the incumbent government.

He informed the delegation that efforts were underway to improve governance in the state and that corruption and corrupt practices would not be tolerated anymore. He added that anti-graft institutions were being empowered to ensure accountability across the board.

The PM also said that the government had fulfilled 90 percent of the demands of the people, including the supply of subsidized flour and cheap electricity.

He urged the people to demonstrate patience and move forward together, adding that the government would fully abide by the constitution and would not do anything that was against its spirit.

The PM also stressed that the interests of Pakistan remained the top priority of the Azad Kashmir government, adding that a strong and stable Pakistan was the ultimate destination of the Kashmiri people.

He hailed the role of the legal fraternity in society, saying that lawyers played a critical role in promoting social peace and justice.

The delegation included former Secretary General District Bar Mirpur Muhammad Shahzad Chaudhry, Advocate Supreme Court, Chaudhry Khaliq uz Zaman Advocate, Chaudhry Jameel Ahmed Advocate, and others.

The lawyers’ delegation on the occasion hailed the Prime Minister for taking a due stand on national issues during his meetings with the federal government.
