According to the report of the government department (GBDMA) responsible for combating natural disasters in Gilgit-Baltistan, an incident occurred this morning at 4 o’clock. While coming from Azad Kashmir towards Shounter via Store, a snow avalanche hit three tents of the nomadic people, resulting in the burial of 11 individuals. As soon as the information of the incident was received, the local administration dispatched rescue teams, who, with the help of local people, recovered 8 bodies from the avalanche. Rescue operations are still ongoing.

Thirteen injured individuals have been transported to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Store, and their conditions, including that of a child, have been reported as critical. Pakistani Army personnel and helicopters are also participating in the rescue efforts. The Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan, Khalid Khurshid, has directed to provide all possible medical assistance to the injured and ensure the provision of food and essential supplies to affected families. Commissioner Diamer Astor Division, Altaf Tamsheen, is overseeing the rescue and relief operations.
